I am very particular about the type of music that I recommend to people. You have to know what you are recommending and who you are recommending the music to. I was having an online conversation with a few musicians in "The Black Surfer's Realm" and I was recommended to check out Curt Chambers by the group originator, Mr. Lawrence Farmer (a musical giant in his own right). I know L and I know that he would give me a good artist, however I was completely unprepared for the sonic quality of Curt Chambers. From the first second the track started on his Reverb Nation page, I was drawn in. I could think of nothing else to say the words "complete artistry". Chambers is a music stylist. With every track I listened to, I felt the artist AND the track. He sang with the track IN MIND. The combination of the rockboy guitarist (instrumentalist side) and the Philadelphia soul (vocalist side) you get a fresh infused sound that I haven't heard anywhere else. He really has captured the essence of his musical influences: Prince and Jimi Hendrix. I'm looking forward to hearing more! Check out one of my favorites from Curt!

In 2010, I was introduced to a mixtape by a budding new artist, Range. I loved the production on the mixtape and his vocals were cutting the track like a butter knife. This man has skill. It especially showed promise because of the buzz surrounding the label that promoted and launched the mixtape, Roc Nation. He is perhaps the most underrated young gun in the game. He has so much going for him - but unfortunately with the gimmicks of industry, he seemingly falls in between the cracks. However, it does NOT discount the talent that this dude has. He has resorted to the name of the game: THE MIXTAPE. And you know I have the link info for you!! Check out his new single on iTunes as well... "Bitter". It will appear in someone's movie or as a transition song in a television show because it just has that vibe! Support good stuff!
