This is my jam. D'Angelo's work has been unparalleled by most Soul artists to date. The fact that he remains relevant and he hasn't produced an album in quite some time... says a lot about his ability to create memorable music. This video happens to feature a personal friend of my family -- the goregous Ms. Latisha Graves. She can't sing a lick, but she is impersonating a background singer! However, this is one of his landmark remakes of a Smokie Robinson classic, "Cruisin".
This has to be one of my FAVORITE gospel songs... Donald did this! And Ms. Murril-Crooms gives us some good rasp. The Tri-City Singers do their good singing on this one. You can find "I Am God" on Donald Lawrence & Tri-City Singers' album Bible Stories. Every song on this album is GREAT!!
