#FRESHFRIDAY ... Fresh Music from some Established artists!

Bobby V. has returned with a new cut.  And it's pretty cool.  Lil' Wayne is featured on this joint, and he of course gives this a little extra boost.  Check out Bobby's next single for his fifth studio album, "Mirror".

Okay... Chris Brown keeps on leaking material. And this is one of his dopest joints that I've heard.  I'm

#FRESHFRIDAY 5/24

SO ... I just happened upon this new joint.  Let me just say that I am a fan of Ester Dean.  Her music is so innovative at times.  I really appreciate her approach to a project, and then the delivery is always on point.  Now, I don't know about you all, but the New Jack Swing era in R&B music is one of my favorite periods.  Every song had that extra "umph" approach to the slow jam that was just created for a good groove.  That New Jack Swing slow jam could be riding music, after the club (that "let me make a call and see what you doing girl" type) music, and karaoke simultaneously.  LOL!  Her tribute to that era is this song, "Baby Making Love".  Hope you enjoy!

New artist, Jason Jetplane is a dope new artist.  Like most male artists of the time, on this particular single is emulating the monotone style that is reminiscent of an autotuned-Drake and Frank Ocean.  So we can see that he possesses the ability to market to the times!  However, checking out his other works online, he actually can sing - and sing quite well.  And he has instrumental playing ability as well. I am awaiting his digital album, Blackbox Vol. Love, which is due out some time this summer.  Check out the video installment! (Also peep his Reverb Nation website. for more of his work.)

Okay guys... I contemplated about when I was going to post this... but I had to post this today because it is so fresh.  You know I enjoy mixtapes.  I have the type of job that allows me to listen to music when I need to, and I promise this has been the YEAR of MIXTAPES!  This is another highly anticipated mixtape from an incredible singer-songwriter! This personal mixtape really allows the listener to take in the real ability of a multifaceted artist.   Everything that you hear is truly Emanny.  For music heads (especially hip hop heads), you will be able to appreciate the care and finesse he takes with this project as he takes pointers from his mentor and label owner, Jadakiss.  Simply put, this album is better heard that just talked about.  Take the opportunity to LISTEN to recently released Songs about HER

NEW MUSIC - Sorry for the WAIT!

It's been a little while since I've posted about anything musical.  I have been busy and I feel like you all have been neglected.  I have some great news about music.

Since I haven't posted in awhile, I'm going to post quite a bit today and let you make your own decisions on you want to respond to this.

FIRST and FOREMOST... Shoutout to Ms. Jordin Sparks who did an exceptional job on the Whitney Houston tribute last night at the Billboard Music Awards.  (additional shoutout goes to Chris Brown, Justin Bieber and Usher for performing well also).

In honor of the great Whitney Houston and respect to Jordin, I have a new song that I've acquired that will be featured in the upcoming remake of Sparkle entitled, "Celebrate".

New Orleans newcomer, Rantz Davis has a new video out.  And I like his style.  Even though he sounds a bit like Jeremih, he still accomplishes making a song catchy and you can tell he actually has talent as well.

I am soo thankful to ThisIsRnB.com for putting me up on Cocaine 80's.  The name may throw you off... but this group of songwriters and producers are some of my of favorite behind-the-scenes up-and-coming players in the game now, including Makeba Riddick ("Get Me Bodied" - Beyonce, "Rude Boy" - Rhianna) and James Fauntleroy ("No Air" - Chris Brown & Jordin Sparks, "Take You Down" - Chris Brown). I got TWO new songs from them.  You will LOVE these collaborations!

You have to go and check out a new artist by the name of Jermaine Riley.  I went to a couple of my favorite blogs and had the opportunity to watch his video, because apparently he is making noise everywhere in the industry.  Then I was directed to his website, where he had an ENTIRE mixtape.  This guy is COLD BLOODED.  Love his music.   Go to the website at http://www.jermaineriley.com/

#FRESHFRIDAY 5/11/2012

Ok... DOPE I have some new mixtapes that I have downloaded recently!

Micahfonecheck and this "August Rush" is a great mixtape.  While at work, I like listening to music that is both motivating and soothing.  Like everyone else, I like crunk music, but at times - I just want to chill.  My work day is sometimes stressful, and music can make it go by so much faster.  Micahfonecheck ain't for everyone. You have to appreciate what is going on musically to really get into this mixtape.  Also, the cover will throw you off... LOL! I don't know what the inspiration was behind it, but it is enough to make you look twice.  However, this is a nice lil' mixtape that is guaranteed to be a nice and easy listen.

Thank you This Is RnB for putting me on to this!

Troy NokA ... is the TRUTH.  I am an advocate for people people using stories to inform an entire project.  I love that stuff.  Songwriters, radio executives and industry moguls all know that you normally have less than 30 seconds to get someone interested in your music: artists/instrumentalists have either have to play or sing something that will attract someone's attention in a very short time.  The intro to this mixtape got me hooked, and I found myself getting into the entire project. Known better as Troy Coles has already penned hits for Frank Ocean, Chris Brown and Ciara. Launching out on his own, he definitely sounds like he is ready to compeat with his counterparts for record sales.  I enjoyed this listen.  I hope you do too.  Download his mixtape on his website.  It will be worth your listen!

I'm caling this fresh because... it is... Bobby Brown is making a comeback.  As 2012 seems to be the year of the comebacks in R&B (D'Angelo, SWV, Usher, etc.) I almost didn't give this song a chance.  However, I listened and I liked.  The writing and production on this track is pretty good.  I don't know if it will catapult him back into the popular R&B conversation, but it will be a conversation piece given the death of his ex-wife, Whitney Houston, the title of the song (OH the IRONY here...) , and current public relation stunts attempting to clean up his persona.  I dig this song... you can barely recognize that it's Bobby.

I'll have more dope music after the weekend. I have a buncyh of news for you about artists and new projects!

NEW MUSIC (5/8/2012)

This song sounds strangely familiar... oh yea, R. Kelly did this YEARS ago with "I'm a Flirt". But, Jarvis has a different vibe.  I like it, but I can't stop thinking about the "so homie don't bring your girl to meet me cuz I'm a flirt..." LOL!  Found this on one of my favorite joints, Singersroom.  (Shoutout to y'all!)

So David Banner has teamed up with Chris Brown for this new track, "Amazing".  You all know how I support David Banner, because he is both intellectual and hood - a difficult line to walk. In any case, check out this track.

New MUSIC (5/7/2012)

Okay... so Al. B. Sure & Kim Porter's son, Quincy, can actually sing.  I'm nervous for him because of the supposed Diddy curse.  But this kid can sing.  I like the vibe of this song that he has just released.  The boy has some serious talent and if he uses his star-power well, this could be a phenomenal career move.

Say... this new Tank leak, "Nowhere" featuring Busta -- nice lil' chill track! Busta just go hard.  There are a few rappers that can resurrect careers with collaborations: T.I., Ludacris, and Busta Rhymes.  POINT BLANK PERIOD.  Although Tank's career is burgeoning, this was a great choice for this type of a song and just for this album.  Tank is one of my favorite vocalists, and I've told you all before... this album is serious.

#FRESHFRIDAY Gospel & MUSIC NEWS

I love the countenance of this lady.  Ms. Cheryl Fortune is now debuting music.  She is the wife of James Fortune, one of the background singers of his Grammy-nominated SANGIN group, FI'YA!  If you have not seen the group live, you need to!  And Ms. Cheryl will take you into the presence of GOD if she's featured soloist on the road. Love her to life, and she's a delight to work with as I've worked with her twice -- very humble person as well.  You will not be disappointed.  Check out this Soundcloud!

May 22nd will be a HUGE day in Gospel music.   There are SEVERAL artists that will be releasing projects!

Zacardi Cortez presents his solo debut project.  We've been listening to his voice in James Fortune's work for the last few projects, and now he's doing his own project entitled, The Introduction.  Try not to shout!

Jason Nelson, twin brother of Jonathan Nelson, is releasing his new project entitled Shifting the Atmosphere.  If you are unfamiliar with his voice and his Baltimore-based ministry - get to know it!  Jason is one of my FAVORITE singers because of his consistency, ability, and approach.  His songwriting credits speak for him as well. GOOGLE him.  Here's one of my favorite videos of Pastor Nelson.

Cheneta Jones will be releasing her project Transformed also!  She has one of the most impeccable, clear and controlled soprano voices that I've heard in awhile.   Love what she is doing in the gospel music realm.   If you haven't heard her material, take a listen!

#FRESHFRIDAY (5/4/2012)

Jarell Perry - the guy that wrote the hook for "Another Round" is working on his own material.  Whereas he gave you a nice hook in the Chris Brown-sung chorus, he gives you LIFE with a whole song.  I think I just may want to purchase this project when it comes out.  First of all, he does a mid-tempo -- and does it well, and he draws a little irony with the tempo and subject matter.  I like this guy!  I think that this may be a good look for music this summer.  "Here We Go Again"

Masspike Miles, signed to Maybach Music is NOT playing games with listeners.  He is going to be heard.  His soulful sounds resonate deep.  As a Massachussetts native, he represents well!  He's worked with  some the industry's best talent, and still remains phenomenal in his own right.  As a 25 year old, he is performing a very adult song. I mean - I can't hate.  He performs with conviction and paints a picture.  It's definitely a late night banger.  I will be interested in hearing more from him in the future in a variety of subject matters.  Check this fresh new artist and his single, "F*ckin"

YIKES... so i found a new girl I like to listen to!  Her name is Nikkiya.  I had to do some research on her, because she has a new project out.  HOWEVER -- I didn't know she released a mixtape last year.  This ATL shawty has style to her vocal prowess.  She is intentionally trying to make you dance like ATL does, but she doesn't do it by being smooth, she takes a more edgy approach.  She sings as if she's chanting, and the tone is rich too.  She is a lil reminicent of both Janelle Monae and Erykah Badu, with an experimental approach to her craft.  This project entitled "Speakher" is nice.  Although it screams female slant, anyone can listen to it. She's not hating on me in her song, but she is addressing relationships from a female point of view, and I like the way it is presented.  Read more about her at reverbnation.com - she's making some wonderful connections and doing some nice collaborations.

I don't know if it's just me, but it seems as though when Diddy releases people, they start making music that is just good for them and everyone else.  Lately, artists that have been signed to Diddy/exclusively worked with Bad Boy and its productions have started doing major things.  Although D. Woods, Dawn, and Aubrey have released music in the past 2 months, one girl that didn't make the cut in Making the Band, Mylah, is making some noise as a talented singer-songwriter.  As a fellow blogger, I appreciate that she gives back to fellow songwriters by posting questions and answers in her blog on themakingsofmylah.com.  As Mylah gears up for a mixtape release, she has released a song and video treatment entitled "Currency".  I think you will like this laid back groove.   I did!

New Music 5/3/12

Say... BJ the Chicago Kid is one of my favorite artists of this year.  His music just grooves!  He has a new joint out "Hay"... I promise I want this on REPEAT today.  Check it out!

Here's a new one from Jaicko Lawrence!  He verbalizes what so many "nice guys" think with this track.  It needs no introduction other than its name: "Gentleman Don't Survive".

My boys ONE CHANCE are back at. They go so hard, and I have yet to understand why someone has not worked with them on marking their product.  They can sing well, and the music they produce is catchy!  If this is your introduction to One Chance, you should really go view their catalogue of work, it is astounding and very much so underrated. This is their new song, "Echo". Lyricall, ythe opening lines are DOPE!  They could've taken it SO much further with the play on words.  Anyway... I know the ladies will enjoy the video!

In Other News...

Omarion signed to Maybach Music Group (yawn!) ... I won't get excited or have any additional commentary until I see a prodcut.

You will hate yourself if you don't get Tank's project. Preorders are availble now, but the album releases May 8th.   I've been listening to the album sampler, and I promise... this will rock as it always does.
